Blame It on My Iphone

So I guess it has been a while since I have posted. Blame it on my new Iphone. I love it!! I can check facebook in the comfort of my loveseat. I can search the web for anything without sitting at the BIG computer. I just haven't ventured into my blog from my Iphone. I know it can be done, but you know me and technology. We aren't the best of friends. In fact, I don't think we should be in the same room because we don't get along. That being said, I love my Iphone. I do not have many apps installed. I'm sure I only use a tenth of it's potential. But then we only use a tenth of our brains. Guess I should learn to develop both of them. But not right now. You see, I'm going in the living room to watch tv. That will really develop my brain while I check in with my Iphone, my friend.

600th Post

I have reached a milestone for someone who is not completely computer illiterate by entering my 600th post. My computer literacy varies on a scale of 1 to 7 between illiterate and getting-by-okay. I'm truly amazed at those who are in their 70s and up who are able to use the computers. I saw on the news a man in his 80s who lived in an assisted living home who went to work every day (within the home) as a day trader. That won't be me!

Unwanted Emails

I have to return to work/school today. It is teacher records day where we finalize the six-week grades, figure the semester grades, and export them. I decided early this morning to get online and check my school email to have that task out of the way. Whoa! My box was filled with vulgar email titles. We have a superior filter/block in place, but evidently it went on vacation also. When I arrive at school, I will need to forward one of the messages to our top computer technician man so he can have record of the violation as well as fix it. I doubt that I will be the only one sending the vulgar example to him. At least let's hope I am NOT the only one sending.

Twenty-fourth in the Nation

At school we have introduced an additional program to our reading to help teach and improve the reading of the children. One of the components is a computer program where children enter their own site, read at their rate, earn virtual tickets, decorate their clubhouse both inside and out all while increasing reading. On the opening window of the program is a list of the top 100 all star readers, meaning the ones who have earned the most points/virtual tickets in just one week. Well, yesterday, one of my students ranked 24th in the nation and first in our state. We were very excited for her. The regional director of the program emailed our Reading Teacher to congratulate the student and our school. We are hoping that by seeing her name on the list of all stars that other students will strive to earn a spot on the list. This feat is even more amazing when you consider the antiquated computer set-up we have. Our lab is not big enough to accommodate half of most classes. And several of the computers spend the entire hour trying to load the program. So for Cassie to earn those tickets, she has had to be on the computer at home. Several of my students do not have access to computers or Internet at home. But then life is not always fair.

Mine Is Back, Yours Is Missing

Go figure. After I blog about my missing comment prompt, I post and find that it is there. So as I am reading other blogs, I find that their comment prompts are now missing. I KNOW I did not do anything to theirs to change them. Maybe it is just my computer or my Internet system or something. Or maybe they will magically appear after I post this.

Now What Have I Done?

Instead of depending on my daughter so much, and because she is working two jobs, I thought I would go into the settings or whatever it was, and look at how the comment section was listed. I DO NOT REMEMBER CLICKING ANYTHING! But now my comment/speak option is missing. Those of you reading this cannot help me because you cannot comment. My only hope is for daughter to read and fix it.

Question: If you have more than one computer mouse, would the plural be mice or mouses?

Please Help Me, They're Not Posting

If you have ever clicked on my list of blogs, you have found out that most of them are no longer writing. Sad. I so enjoyed reading the one Never Give Up, from a lady with ALS. She found my blog because of what I had written about my brother. Well, unfortunately, she passed. So, I need to clean up my list, get rid of those not posting and add a few others. But since I am so techno inhibited, I will have to wait upon my daughter to help.

H - A - P - P - Y

My daughter, husband, and granddaughter were at our house last night. And since the weather is cooler, I suggested we go outside to sit on the patio. After asking each one of us if we wanted to go out to the patio, the granddaughter clapped her hands together and exclaimed, "I'm so happy!" It doesn't take much to please a small child.

Are you sure you hit publish?

Where do they go??? I posted yesterday and they did not appear anywhere but on my view blog. But when I went to my blog, they were not there. So today I republished one and deleted the other one that didn't appear anywhere. One day both may suddenly show up on the blog and will at that point be doubled and muddled. Go figure!
