Stress Tests

I'm finally scheduled for my two heart stress tests today, something I must have done before I can have knee surgery. I think I have already blogged about how much trouble I have had in scheduling the two tests for the same day. (I've only been trying to get this done since the last week of December.) Well, the doctor's office called me last Thursday to say that they could not do both tests today. I would have to reschedule. Trying to hold my temper I inquired how long that would take. When the lady replied 4 to 6 weeks I nearly lost it. They should have taken the stress tests at that point and saved us all the time and trouble. I will be looking for a new doctor after the results are back.

What Light Appears

While enjoying the beautiful ice-covered trees I noticed how much light they reflect. Depending on the position of the sun, the trees reflect the light in varying degrees. As the sun was setting the other evening, I caught a more spectacular view--orange and red light in the tree tops. It was so awesome. The light appeared to be many individual orange and red lights, blinking in each tree. How marvelous that God can show us such beauty, even in times of storms.

Super Snow Party

What do you do when you have been stuck inside because of the snow and ice? And you are bored? And hungry? You plan a super snow party! That's what we did last night. Pizza, chips, cheese dip, soda pop, homemade sugar cookies, games, American Idol, and friends. And we didn't have to dig out any cars. Hope you are being creative with your plans to endure the snow.

Snow Days

Can you believe this snow? We live in the area that first received snow, then hours and hours of sleet, enough to make snow cones for each person in our state, then more snow on top of that. My hubby had shoveled the walk at least 3 times throughout the day and applied the salt/melt pelts. By the time we went to bed, you couldn't see the walk! Now I know that this is nothing compared to the 11 feet of snow received by Oswego, New York, but for our area, this snow ranks right up near the record for us. We will have to make-up these days at the end of our school year in May, but that is a small price to pay for the memories of the snow.

Paper Shredder Users Beware

In Monday's edition of the Indy Star there was an article about the hazard of paper shredders to pets, mainly dogs. I read about a dog who licked the shredder (they said all dogs like to lick) and caught his tongue in the shredder. I will spare you the gross details and say that the dog had to be terminated. Made me sick. The article proceeded with 5 more gory true stories of pets and the shredder of which I did not read. I am sorry for the dog, but the article made me keenly aware of how dangerous our new super duper shredder is to our granddaughter. I caught her trying to feed paper into it the other day. Her tiny fingers would be about the thickness of a dog's tongue. Spare me the thought!!! And find the plug!

Says WHO?

Friday evening, while eating dinner out with my twenty something son, my sister-in-law, and her teenage children, we got into the discussion about playing the DVR and VCR at our respective homes. Sis and I lamented that we have difficulty knowing which button on which of the 2 or 3 remotes we need to push in order to just play the thing, let alone record. Sis's kids chimed in with agreement plus put-downs. Well, my son looked at his cousins and said that their generation understood the techno stuff. Translation: "You two are old and will never get the computer/technology age like we do. You poor things." Sis and I let it pass, because what could we say. Not five minutes later, one of Sis's kids pulled out a personal check written to her and wanted to sign it, even though the banks were closed at that time. She turned to my son and asked how to do it. Too bad my Sis and I didn't stand up, shout, and high-five one another right there!

New is not always better

I have tried to post for the past 3 days, but was unable to for several reasons. The main reason was that I had to switch to the new format on my blogger site. For months I have been encouraged to switch, but chose not to. Now in order to blog I HAD to switch. I had to open a google account, which I never did find out if it is free. So, I attempted to make the switch today by opening the account. Well, after the first page, there was no scroll bar nor would the "page" move with the scroll of the mouse. So I could not enter the information. Grrrrr! After the 3rd (or was it the fourth) attempt, the scroll bar was available to allow me to complete each page and go on to the next. Success, but I still am not feeling great about the whole deal. If there is a hidden charge, I'm sure my hubby will have something to say about it. New is not always better.

Double Whammy

Cancer is a wicked disease that sucks the life and money out of a person. If one survives the ordeal, including the treatments, cancer still takes its bite by costing the patient money for doctor visits. I think that if a person must suffer with cancer, all treatments, surgeries, and follow-up visits should be completely free of charge. What do people do who do not have good health care coverage? Don't answer that.
