Hubby Returns

Hubby arrives home tonight from the second half of the Barbados mission trip. I'm sure he will be glad to be home. I will be glad when he reaches Miami and can call me on the cell. Being out-of-reach is not fun after we have experienced such instant communication.

Back From Barbados

Well, I arrived home Sunday nite late, but have not been rested enough to blog. I had a great time and was able to help in accomplishing many of the work items. I have many pictures to share when I get a chance. You are not going to believe the pickled chicken feet.

Happy Birthday Cake

Toots celebrated her 5th birthday this past Monday. We mixed and baked the birthday cake together. When cooled, she iced it with canned white icing. Then, with the can that looks like the old fashioned whipped cream, she used pink icing to completely decorate the cake. She put her name on first, but after all the stuff she added, nothing of her name was visible. The cake looked pretty good for a five year old. And it tasted very well also. Now she thinks she can be a cake decorator. Why not? That would save us a lot of money!

More Koi

Hubby partially drained and cleaned his koi pond yesterday. He was surprised when he fished out the koi. He found two very small ones which had to be babies! So I guess that murky water was good for something. Ha.

Reasons Why

Toots and I were walking back to the car after watching the high school football game and band performance when I told her I would be going on a mission trip to Barbados. She asked where that was? When I answered far, far away, she said, "I know, I know. I can't go with you because I always ask to go to the bathroom."

God, Our Father...

Hubby and I ate supper with our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter the other night. Before we ate, someone asked Toots to pray the God, Our Father song, as she always does. After praying, she said, "Hey, guys, why do I always have to do the prayer? One of you could do it sometime!"

Needed: Glasses for Reading in the Shower

Why don't they make the names of shampoo and conditioner larger on the container? Those of us who wear glasses OUTSIDE of the shower have difficulty reading the words while taking a steamy shower. Or could they make the containers different in some way? It is very frustrating to wash your hair in conditioner when you were sure it read shampoo.

Would You Want Your Mother to Hear That?

While lining up after lunch yesterday at school, one of my students ratted out the class on something several of them were saying. It wasn't that bad, but still was inappropriate for school. I asked them if it were okay for me to say that word "turd." They were shocked to hear their teacher say such a word. I think the point was made. Hope that ends that. Probably will increase the ratting or no one will tell again. Hope it's the latter cause I don't want to say anything worse.

Facebook vs the Blog

I just posted on facebook and lamented about making a mistake and not being able to fix it. Then my daughter texts me to tell me how to fix the mistake of facebook. Do we ever talk face to face? Yes, but technology is fun.

Up So Late

Didn't make it on here this morning because I slept in till 5:30. I need more time than that to check facebook and blog. Maybe if I go to bed really early tonight, I will be able to be up early enough to post. But then, who cares? On a positive note, my granddaughter, who has had a fever and vomiting for several days, does not have the flu or the H1N1 virus. We are thankful for that. Just hope and pray that she recovers quickly.

Eat that Pig!

Yesterday we served biscuits and sausage gravy at a local festival as a fund raiser for Bible Bowl. As we were serving, a local farmer and the FFA of both high schools set up a farm animal petting zoo at the opposite end of the Cow Palace. Fortunately, the wind had died down and the wafting of the manure passed. But I imagine it was difficult for the patrons to eat the sausage as they heard the baby pig squealing mercilessly from the other end.

Smile

Today is picture day at school. Mine should be a winner. I have swollen, bloodshot eyes from allergies, and my face is still a bit pudgy from taking the prednisone. Perhaps the photo will be a hot item to use as blackmail against me or for dart practice. Maybe I should fix my hair a totally different way so that people's gaze will be upon the hair and the comments will be also.

Who Are You?

I walked my students out the school building for dismissal of walkers and car riders. As one of my students passed she said, "Bye, Mrs.......) She couldn't think of my name. We have been in school 7 weeks already. And she is 10 years old at the most. Don't raze me if I can't remember something at the moment!
