Tag Along with Me

My daughter has tagged me to answer this survey just for fun. Since I feel obligated to do it, here goes. 4 Jobs You Have Had 1. Peddler of apples, corn and strawberries, door to door. Yuk! I did this as a child because we were poor and my parents insisted that we had to do it. Lots of people bought because we were cute and pathetic at the same time. 2. College professor. Well, it was a Junior College and I only taught one course, but it was for real and for money. 3. Sign Language Interpreter, some for pay and some free. I learned sign language 30 some years ago and have had the opportunity to interpret in various situations. I have also taught the basic course of sign language in churches and colleges for many years. 4. Teacher. I always knew I would be a teacher of some sort. I currently teach fourth grade and really love my job. 4 Movies You Can Watch Over and Over 1. Robin Hood, the cartoon one 2. Robin Hood with Kevin Costner 3. A Summer to Remember 4. Short Circuit Okay so I'm not much of a movie buff. I just let my daughter go and then fill me in. Saves lots of money that way. 4 TV Shows You Like to Watch 1. Grey's Anatomy. The content can be a little off-color at times, but it is a good show. 2. The Closer. I love the fragility of Kyra Sedgwick's character. I especially love how she is doubted, mostly by men, and then solves or closes the case. 3. American Idol. Yes, I swore I would never watch it, but am hooked. 4. Medium. Some of the episodes have been scary, but then I like scary. I especially like the episodes centered on the middle child. She is so good. 4 Places You Have Been On Vacation 1. Honduras. It was a working vacation. Not sure if a visit to such a poverty-stricken country counts as a vacation. 2. The Grand Canyon, twice 3. Carlsbad, NM. It was to be for two days but ended up a week due our friend's hospitalization. 4. 49 states, all but Alaska 4 Websites You Visit Daily (Well at least regularly) 1. Google 2. Waiting 4 the Punchline blog 3. Email at school 4. Favorite blogs 4 of My Favorite Foods 1. Anything bread. No, I do not want to go on the low carb diet. My doctor said that limiting carbs will cause my arthritis to flair. Thanks, doc. 2. Chili, but not too hot. 3. Chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes. 4. Cheesecake, just plain. 4 Places I'd Rather Be 1. With my granddaughter. 2. Walking. 3. Some place HOT as in temperature hot. 4. Home, especially when I am not home. 4 Albums/Bands/Artists I Can't Live Without 1. No one is that important that I can't live without. Remember that I like American Idol. 2. Casting Crowns 3. Ginny Owens 4. Mark Schultz 4 People to Tag with This List 1. Who Reads This Anyway 2. Jelly Beans and Corduroy (Now you can answer double. Just kidding.) 3. I'm out of names/blogs, because they have already been tagged. This has been fun and challenging for me to come up with answers. I need to create one that is in my comfort zone and tag several of you.

I'm Still Here

Have you ever been too busy to get all the things done that you want to do? Are you ever overwhelmed by vast numbers of tasked required of you, whether you want to do them or not? I kind of resemble both of those. If I choose to do one thing that I like or want to do, then something else suffers because I didn't have time for it. If I try to do them all, then I suffer from doing too much. Before cold weather set in late last fall, I was dedicated to walking at least an hour a day for my physical and mental well-being. Since I do not function well in the cold and wind, I have dropped my walking. It doesn't make sense that because I am not expending energy, I do not have any energy. Also when I walked for an hour, something else in my life is neglected. That all leads up to my devotional time. I have recently made it a top priority to arise early, read my Bible, then spend time in prayer while writing in my prayer journal every day. Now anyone who knows me, knows that I get up early (4:30 - 5:00) every day. But since I made devotions a top priority, I have been sleeping in till 6:00 and have to rely on the alarm to get me up. Starting as late as 6:00 is not early enough to do the devotions. So, I'm wondering, what is happening that makes me sleep in now, when I didn't before? It is satan. He does not want me to spend any of my time in devotions, so he is cluttering or clouding my life with frustrations and more stress. I have not given-in to his interference. I am setting the alarm and arising early enough to give time to devotions. You are probably thinking that the choice to arise early would solve the problem. But as I stated in my first paragraph, one thing causes another to happen. My body is protesting in many ways that I will not go into here. Just suffice it to say that satan is also working overtime. I hope I am overwhelming him and causing interference in his busy schedule. "I can do every thing through Him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13

Sickness

Every where you turn, someone is sick...coughing, sneezing, blowing nose, running to the bathroom, running to the bathroom, running to the bathroom. I can't wait till Spring when it will be warmer, and we can get out of confined spaces to breathe fresh air. Do you suppose we are all just passing the same germs around again and again in our work places? Maybe we should exchange building germs so we won't tire of the same old thing. Just kidding.

Correcting Blogs

I have a question: If someone's blog contains a glaring misspelling in the name of the blog, is it okay to point that out or leave it along? I stumbled across a blog with "reilable" in the name. In fact, I found several with that misspelled word in the name. Is it a new word?

House Cleaning

Who cleans your house/apartment?

Christmas Tree Questions

1. How long do you leave your tree up after Christmas? 2. About how many ornaments are/were on your tree? 3. Is your tree real, artificial, or pre-lit artificial? Mine is still up. I did take off the ornaments and lights yesterday. Would you believe I had 250 ornaments on it? And I didn't put all of them on this year.

Bummer

Here I am, sick the second weekend in a row. Blaaah! Don't know how to spell the onomatopoeia for vomiting. I had a terrible migraine headache last Saturday through Tuesday. It finally passed, died, went away, whatever. Then yesterday I had sharp pains in my stomach and felt like losing my lunch and breakfast. It didn't help that I was at school teaching young children. It also wasn't helpful that I was reading part of a book about a boy who was vomiting in the bathroom sink. (The book is Macaroni Boy, an excellent read about life in the depression.) With each new purge, it began splattering on the floor. My kids knew that I wasn't feeling well. After a few descriptive lines about the sick boy, they were empathetic, and had the trash can close by. I made it home and have been either in bed or on the couch ever since. Now for those of you reading this and who don't really know me, I will answer your question/suspicion: No, I do not drink. I suffer from migraines as has many generations in my family, including all three of my children. The stomach virus is a combination of too much migraine medicine and all the "bugs" going around at school. When I get better, which I know I will, I can't wait to see how I feel next weekend. Ha.

Dieting

Well, it is that time of year when most people make a resolution to lose some weight. The weight reduction help sites such as Weight Watchers, etc. are literally bursting at the seams at their meetings. Makes you wonder if the fruit that Eve ate was actually a very fattening fruit, thus, cursing us all from the beginning of time. The granddaughter has been ill and lost a few pounds. Her new pediatrician thinks she is too skinny and has prescribed that she gain weight. To help her do this, her mother is to lace everything she consumes with real butter, offer lots of cheeses, and give her whole milk fortified with real cream. Now, haven't you dreamed of having a diet such as this?
