I want one

Heard this story at school yesterday from our secretary. She has friends with a son with Down Syndrome, who is in elementary. Because of No Child Left Behind, he is in the regular class full time. Seems they went on a field trip to the zoo. They had a good time and were ready to load the buses when the boy was missing. Suddenly, he comes running, soaking wet, and boards the bus. He sat by himself in the back of the bus and would not talk to anyone. No one gave it another thought. When the boy arrived home, he rushed upstairs, locked himself in the bathroom, and began running water. Alarmed, the parents took the door off the hinges to gain quick access. They were shocked to see the boy sitting in the tub with a real live penguin. Yep, he had brought home his own souveneer in his backpack. The parents promptly called the zoo. (I would have loved to hear that conversation.) The zoo stated that they would need to send out a special team with a special vehicle to retrieve the bird. Bet the parents were wondering why they couldn't use a backpack like their son had. The secretary commented that the boy will probably fail ISTEP, but he was the only one on the trip that brought home a real, live penguin!
